How to Assign Teams Phone: A Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Check Available Licences
- Sign in to the Entra ID admin centre.
- Go To Billing > License
- All Product
- Locate Microsoft Teams Phone Standard
- Confirm there are spare licences.
If there are no spare licences, one will need to be purchased from Softcat - Log into Softcat, click the My Account tab, select Manage Microsoft Cloud Services from the Cloud Service menu and select 'Microsoft Teams Phone Standard [NCE]' - Monthly Billing - 1 Year @ 12 x £x.xx per month.
Step 2: Assign Teams Phone Licenses
Assign Teams Phone licences to your user:
- Sign in to the Entra ID admin centre.
- Go to the Group > All Groups page.
- Select the group, Licence-Teams Phone Standard
- Add the user to the Group
- Click Save Changes.
Step 3: Set up The User in Wavenet
Ensure the Teams Phone licence had applied to the user before starting the Wavenet process
Go to Setup > Users

Select Create user
Fill in Names and usernames, For Wavenet the username is only Firstname.Lastname, the domain selected from the drop-down complete the email
Select the domain (EskenRenewables.com)
License > select VIA UC Teams Bundle
assign an available number from the drop-down
Click Create
Step 4: Assign Phone Numbers to Users In Teams
The final step is to assign phone numbers to your users. Here's how:
- Sign in to the Microsoft Teams admin centre.
- Go to the Voice > Phone numbers page.
- Select the phone number you want to assign. (Same as assigned in Wavenet)
- Click on Edit.
- Under Assign to, select the user or users you want to assign the phone number to.
- Click Save.
And that's it! You've successfully assigned Teams Phone to your User.
